Joe Young (*13th of Nov. 1982 in New York/Manhattan as Tyrone Derryl Clay) alias Joe Young the Great Ape is an American Rapper, Musicproducer, Songwriter and Designer from his own Clothingline. Biography: Tyrone Derryl Clay was born on the 13th of November in 1982 in Manhatten, New York. In his early days, he and his Brother were raised without a father. This changed in 1985 as his Mother got married to a passionate Pastor and Soldier of the US Army. Around that time, his father was transferred to Germany, so the whole family moved to Germany not knowing what really awaited them there. But for his Mother it was moving back home. From than on „little Tony“, as people called him, attended a German Kindergarden and later a German school near the Army Base. Groomed in the German System of school and education he learned to speak the language fluently. Already at the early age of six years, people knew there was an different aura around „little Tony“ that separated him from the others. Already in school and growing up, „little Tony“ lived his life by his own rules. He knew that he wanted the finer things in life, so he went out to hustle. He used to draw Comic books for other students that paid him for it and was active in various other hustles to. But at the same time, he made sure, that his family was straight as well. Being that he always was dressed fly and up to date it was natural, that he grabbed the attention of the police and other law enforcements. At the time he made a name for himself as the cities hustler, flyboy and also dabbed into the music scene under the alias „Nappy Poleon“. He started to rap serious after he heard the Solo Album of Wu Tang Clan´s Member „Cappadonna“. Right after hearing the Album, he began to really inquire about the art form and to work on his own lyrics. He wanted to live the Hip Hop lifestyle. In 2002 he met his girlfriend at a local club in his „Now Hometown“. After being with her for a year, he left all criminal activities in the past and fast money started slowing up. In order to maintain his lifestyle, he quitted college and financed their life with day to day jobs (Foot Locker…) to keep the lights on. At that time, he and his girlfriend could only afford a one room crib. These circumstances made him even hungrier for his musical success. His drive for more and an old business partner where the perfect match for “Tony’s” Business savvy. He and his partner formed a Party Promotion Company which led too two club ownerships operating as CEO, Publicist, Booking agency and CFO. As time went on and moves were made, connections to Multi Million Dollar Companies, Movers and Shakers in the Industry were made. With all these things going on, he still managed to keep his musical skills up to date and started working on his debut album “Cash & Grams” with his Homie Bugi which was released on NEO/Sony BMG in 2006. The project, which featured “Inspaectah Deck”, “EDO.G”, “Cappadonna”, “Masta Ace” and more, sparked some interest in the music world. But Joe Young (Rap name now, given by Ghostface Killah) knew that he hadn’t reached his full potential as a MC and songwriter yet, therefore he traveled back and forth to the USA to watch and observe. With these trips he picked up the trends of the music world today and learned to incorporate them with his style and, like many say, with his unique delivery. 2008 was a big year for Joe, he fastened his relationships with Fabolous, Jim Jones and other celebrities in the rap industry, due to the fact that his girlfriend is responsible for the distribution of Faboulous – Rich Yung Clothing Line and Jim Jones – Nostic Clothing Line. By now Joe Young is a coming name in the music industry as we know it today. It didn’t take long for him to reach the next level after all the dues he paid to the game. LiL’Waynes camp and long time manager and friend had Joe Young on his radar for a long time already before allegedly signing him to his own imprint Rich Money LLC. Various recordings with artists like LiL’Wayne, Pusha T of the Clipse and others have followed. Equipped with new heat he now has a good outlook on 2009 and is also heating up Europe. The first strike in Europe was an exclusive deal with Europe’s biggest outlet for print media in the black music scene. Managed by his girlfriend and Tez ´09 can come. |
