Eddy Ross

Eddy Ross

Eddy Ross was born in VanBeuren, Arkansas, USA, in 1962. His father was a welder and the family traveled a lot between Iowa, Illinois and Arkansas. His whole familiy, including his grandfather and uncles, played music all over those states until 1968 when his father decided that he was going to Alaska to work on the pipeline – but when the familiy got to Oregon his father said it was “God’s Country” and they stayed.By this time Eddy Ross had already started playing drums and singing. His dad put him on stage with him when he was 5 years old. With all that attention, cheering and applause – topped off with a paycheck at that age – it gave him “the fever” and from then on he could not stop playing music … ever!He was playing drums and wanted so badly to play guitar that his dad finally showed him three cords and said if he learned those he would teach him. So Eddy watched him, practiced hard, and within one month he could play barré chords, open chords, and so on. His dad took him to guitar teachers including Ralph Ives, Johnny Collinsworth, and so many others that he can’t remember them all.By the age of 14, Eddy Ross was working so much that he couldn’t keep up. He had three bands, school, practice, and, of course, girls!!! Somehow he survived it all! He went in all directions with his music – country, rock, blues, jazz, and even some funk.

After being in Cordova while on the road with Wes Lane and Jack Loveless, Eddy moved to Alaska in 1980. He liked it there so much that he stayed seven years. While there he worked for Clint Lewis, Bill Casey Sr. and Lamar Productions, and he was a Top 100 Charter Member of the Alaska Music Guild.

Eddy Ross returned to Oregon in late 1986 and played music all over Oregon, California and Nevada, opening for Ty Herndon, Ty England and many others. He signed with NWNC Records for two years where he wrote, arranged and did some studio work, in addition to learning a lot about the business. Somehow he connected with Andy Marx of Rock-A-Lotta-Records, and now here he is …
